Country Store Sales Assistant – Part Time

Ranging from 6.5 – 19 hours per week, depending on the rota cycle.
Hours Monday to Saturday 9am – 4:00pm, Sunday 10am - 4pm.
Flexibility to close at 5pm when supporting Jimmy’s Farm events.

Clarkes of Walsham is looking for a Part Time Country Store Sales Assistant to look after our customers at our retail store at Jimmys Farm. As a sales assistant you’ll guide customers through the shopping process, from the initial greeting to the final purchase. By providing insight and support, you’ll help strengthen our current customer relationships and convert new visitors into repeat shoppers.

Our Jimmy’s Farm Store contains the very best of our Country Clothing and Footwear, Pet Accessories, Shooting Accessories, Shotgun Cartridges and Ammunition. Along with gifts and toys for our younger family members.
Based at our Jimmy’s Farm Country Store you will be required to work to a rota which covers a 2-week pattern, this will include weekends and bank holidays. Additional days will be required to cover holidays of other staff. Whilst some flexibility will be required for special events, the standard hours of work will be Monday – Saturday 9.30 – 4 and Sunday 10 – 4.

The ideal candidate will have a personality for engaging with customers and when required the ability to resolve any concerns. If you’re passionate about people and want to grow your customer service skills and achieve sales in our shop, we’d love to hear from you!

Skills required.

  • Excellent proven customer service skills and knowledge of country life.
  • Sales and marketing skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, face to face, by phone and email.
  • The ability to use IT for day-to-day operations.
  • Must be physically capable of lifting and moving stock items up to 20kg. Reasonable accommodations are available, though some lifting requirements cannot be entirely eliminated.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods of time. (reasonable accommodations can be provided).
  • Proven problem-solving skills.
  • An eye for detail.
  • Time management and multitasking abilities.
  • Self-motivation to work alone, as well as a team, liaising with remote team members as required.

Job responsibilities.

  • Welcoming customers and delivering exceptional service to our customers, resulting in repeat visits and long-term brand loyalty
  • Treat customers with respect and courtesy
  • Showing customers where to find items or directing them to alternatives or special promotions.
  • Informing customers about features and benefits of the products and offer opinions and recommendations as appropriate.
  • Maintain regulated products sales within the guidelines given by Firearms regulation. (Training will be given)
  • Handling cash, using tills and Point of Sale equipment.
  • Working towards sales targets as given by the store manager
  • Maintaining merchandising stands and tidying item displays
  • Maintain a tidy shopping environment by cleaning the store daily.
  • Increasing sales and giving feedback to the team about new product opportunities
  • Rotate and replenish stock on the shop floor.
  • Deal with customers returning and refunding items.

Yard Operative / Forklift Driver

40 Hour contract, overtime when available

Yard Operative / Forklift Driver required at Clarkes Aggregates.

At our aggregate centre, we offer a wide range of aggregates and decorative stone, loose and bagged supplying the trade and general public.

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Yard Operative / Forklift driver to join our team at Clarkes Aggregates in Summer Road, Walsham-le-Willows. This role is essential to the efficient operation of our yard, contributing significantly to our customer satisfaction. You will be required to bag aggregate for stock, load customer vehicles and book-out products using our internal computer system. You will be an integral part of the continued growth and exciting development of this department.

Job Description

As an efficient team player, you will be responsible for loading and unloading vehicles with goods, moving materials around the site using a teleporter or counterbalance forklift, bagging aggregates, and generating sales tickets using our internal computer system.

High level of Health and Safety ensuring safe working practices will be required at all times.

  • Picking customer orders.
  • Loading customer vehicles with the correct products promptly and safely.
  • Booking out products using our internal computer system to maintain accurate inventory records and provide customer documentation.
  • Unloading supplier vehicles using forklifts and checking paperwork accompanying deliveries is correct.
  • Taking an active role in daily operations.
  • Bagging aggregate for stock.
  • Moving of stock around the yard using forklift as required.
  • Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe yard environment.
  • Assisting with stock management and replenishment as needed.
  • Carrying out daily safety forklift checks.

Skills and Experience

• Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.
• Pro-active and motivated with a high level of attention to detail.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately under pressure.
• Computer skills essential.
• Self-motivated and able to work effectively as part of a team or independently.
• Forklift counterbalance licence is essential and valid UK certification taken with in the last 3 years.
• Teleporter license is an advantage although training will be given.
